A reader has kindly brought this curious story to my attention. A 64-year-old man in Germany has handed in two paintings to the Police which he discovered at a skip in a rest stop near Ohrenbach in central Germany. The names of artists Pietro Bellotti (1625-1700) and Samuel van Hoogstraten (1627-1678) have been mentioned, but I think one should exercise a little caution here. Authorities in Germany are now appealing for more information as to how these paintings arrived there.
