Protests (ctd.)

February 15 2024

It appears that protests involving historic artworks are becoming increasingly frequent and alarming these days. Two days ago activists in Florence attached posters to Botticelli's Birth of Venus, drawing attention to flooding caused by climate change. More concerning though is a stunt by the artist contemporary Andrei Molodkin, who claims to have gathered works by Picasso, Rembrandt, Andy Warhol and others in order to destroy them with acid if Julian Assange dies in prison. Are acts like these really changing the minds of the masses? Or are they achieving exactly the opposite?
